What is Amstel Agro silicon feed?

Amstel Agro is a line of liquid silicon fertilisers, also called plant enhancers or biostimulants, for professional agriculture and horticulture. The nutrients are based on orthosilicic acid: the only form of silicon that a plant can directly absorb. Besides silicon, each formula contains a tuned set of micronutrients such as boron, zinc and molybdenum, supplemented by willow bark extract as a natural source of salicylic acid.

How silicon makes your crop stronger

Silicon is stored in the plant's cell walls and makes them stronger. A crop with strong cell walls stands up straighter, captures more light and evaporates less in heat. That strong structure also acts as a physical barrier against fungi and insects and helps the plant cope better with drought and other stresses. This makes the crop more resilient and less dependent on chemical pesticides, while improving the absorption of other nutrients and making the final product firmer and more storable.

SF-G, SF-Y and SF-O: which variant do you choose?

Amstel Agro's silicon line consists of three variants, each tailored to a type of cultivation. SF-G is aimed at greenhouse horticulture, ornamental crops and covered or indoor crops, such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and flowering plants. SF-Y focuses on arable and outdoor crops, such as cereals, maize, potato and onion. SF-O was developed for woody crops, fruit and nuts, with extra attention to flowering, fruit set and skin quality.

Application and dosage

All Amstel Agro silicon products are applicable year-round through foliar spraying and through the irrigation system. For most crops, a low dosage of about 1 ml per litre of water is sufficient preventively, or 2 ml per litre in an active problem situation. Approved for organic cultivation and entirely plant-based, the products can be easily integrated into an existing fertiliser and crop protection scheme.
